Anatomy of an AKTU Marksheet: Decoding Indicators & Acronyms

AKTU marksheets are packed with technical abbreviations like PCP, PWG, ESE, and AUD. Here is your student guide to decoding every single field on your scorecard.

1. Comprehensive Result Status Glossary

The summary row of each semester accordion displays a status tag. Here is what each acronym officially means:

PASSPassed

Cleared all subjects in the semester with satisfactory internal and external marks.

PWGPassed With Grace

Passed after being awarded statutory university grace marks (up to 7-10 marks).

PCPPromoted with Carry Over Papers

Eligible for promotion to the next semester, but carries uncleared back papers.

ABSAbsent

Student was marked absent on the examination hall attendance sheet.

UFMUnfair Means

Case registered by flying squad or exam superintendent; pending disciplinary committee review.

INCIncomplete

Internal sessional or external viva marks missing from college submission.

WHWithheld

Result suspended due to college fee dues, eligibility disputes, or administrative hold.

AUDAudit Course

Non-credit mandatory course (e.g., Cyber Security) graded as Satisfactory / Unsatisfactory.

2. Decoding AKTU Subject Codes

Every course code follows a standardized naming convention established by the university syllabus board:

  • Prefix: The first letter indicates the syllabus revision series (e.g., K indicates the current AICTE model curriculum; older batches had N or R).
  • Department Identifier: Two or three letters denoting discipline: CS (Computer Science), EC (Electronics), ME (Mechanical), AS (Applied Science), EE (Electrical).
  • Semester & Sequence Number: Three numbers: the first digit is the semester (e.g., KCS501 indicates 5th semester, course #01).
  • Labs & Practicals: Practical lab subjects append 50 to the sequence (e.g., KCS-551 is the practical lab corresponding to KCS-501).

3. Credit Units vs Marks

A high mark in a 4-credit course elevates your SGPA significantly more than a high mark in a 1-credit lab. Credits reflect instructional hours:

Course FormatTypical CreditsImpact on Semester SGPA
Core Theory Subject (4 hrs/week)4 CreditsHigh Weightage (~25% of SGPA)
Elective Theory Subject (3 hrs/week)3 CreditsModerate Weightage (~18% of SGPA)
Practical Lab Course (2 hrs/week)1 CreditLow Weightage (~6% of SGPA)
Audit Course (Constitution, UHV)0 CreditsZero Weightage (Mandatory to clear)
